Murder investigation after man shot dead in Harlesden

A man has been shot dead in Harlesden this morning prompting police to launch a murder investigation.

Officers were called at about 2.30am after reports of a shooting in Shakespeare Avenue.

They found the man, believed to be aged in his 20s, at the scene and he was taken to hospital by ambulance but died later.

The incident is being investigated by officers from Operation Trident which deals with gun crime in the black community.

Police believe they know the man's identity and are informing his next of kin.

A post-mortem will take place later today at Northwick Park Hospital.

No arrests have been made.
