Academy Given Glowing Ofsted Report

Posted by Tom Lawrence on Jan 13, 09 12:12 PM in Schools/colleges

Capital City Academy makes a positive difference to the lives of its students, according to Ofsted inspectors.

The school, in Doyle Gardens, Willesden, was also commended for its work in the community, the quality of teaching and the personal development of its youngsters, in a recent visit from the government officials.

Inspectors noted that standards at the once failing school were now "broadly in line with national expectations."

Many other features were found to be outstanding, including leadership and management, care, guidance and support for students, the curriculum, partnership working, promotion of healthy lifestyles, students' contribution to the community and the school's work to promote equalities and community cohesion.

Chairman and Sponsor, Sir Frank Lowe, said "We are obviously pleased with this report particularly as the staff and trustees have together managed to take the school from special measures to good in six short years. Though at times they have seemed like six long years.

"I would also especially like to add my thanks to the principal, Philip O'Hear, who for four of these five years has put together an outstanding group of people and has led them with great enthusiasm and commitment."

We'd like to hear from you.
