'Dangerous' criminal in court

A serial thief who befriended his victims and them bullied them into handing over their valuables has been jailed for seven years.
Ali Al-Talib, of All Souls Avenue, Willesden, was described as one of the most dangerous young men ever to appear at Harrow Crown Court, when he was sentenced on Friday(22).
The 22-year-old was found guilty of eight counts of robbery and one count of theft between August and October 2007.
Jurors heard how the criminal made friends with intimidated young students and then threatened them with violence before taking their belongings.
Al-Talib even went to the extremes of saying he was going to inject his victims with heroin, the court heard.
The bully claimed he had access to firearms and knives so the scared students would not contact the police.
During sentencing, Judge Arran said that Al-Talib terrified his victims, who were vulnerable young men and was almost certainly connected to gangs.
PC Holly Sexton, Brent Police Priority Crime Unit, said: "We are pleased that a dangerous young man has received a sentence proportionate with his actions.
"The sentence sends out a clear message to those who are contemplating committing these sorts of offences in our borough that the sentences being given to guilty offenders will reflect their actions and that the judicial system will work with the police in ensuring that the full weight of the law will be used."
