Call up to help charity

Posted by Tom Parnell on Aug 7, 08 11:36 AM in Charity/voluntary

Members of Brent Samaritans urged kind-hearted residents to join the charity during its national fundraising and awareness day, last month.

Volunteers from the borough's arm of the organisation, which is based in Harlesden, congregated at the Samaritans charity shop in Walm Lane, Willesden Green, on July 24.

They promoted their good work and talked to customers about volunteering opportunities, both as telephone counsellors and shop workers.

Shop Manager, Denis Cremin, said: "Every time someone buys goods, or brings donations to the shop, they are helping Brent Samaritans to be there for people who need confidential emotional support, whether by telephone, email, letter or face to face."

A Samaritans information event will take place on August 31, at 1, Leopold Road, Harlesden.
