A businessman who held raucous outdoor parties in the middle of Harlesden has been punished by Brent Council.

Hopeton Lee was fined £1,300 after being found guilty of causing noise nuisance by magistrates, on Tuesday last week.

Brent Council has announced its bin collection days for the bank holiday weekend.

Green box and grey rubbish bin collection days will remain the same over this bank holiday, however green organic bin collection days are changing.

A serial thief who befriended his victims and them bullied them into handing over their valuables has been jailed for seven years.

Ali Al-Talib, of All Souls Avenue, Willesden, was described as one of the most dangerous young men ever to appear at Harrow Crown Court, when he was sentenced on Friday(22).

James SmithA Willesden man faces more than four years behind bars after being convicted of a string of burglaries.

James Smith, of Burnley Road, was sentenced to four years and eight months in Harrow Crown Court today (Tuesday).

The Chameleons Amateur Dramatic Society is holding open auditions for this year's Christmas pantomime - Beauty and the Beast.

The Brent-based group is looking for around 20 talented children between the ages of nine and 15 to star in the chorus.

Around 2,000 cannabis plants believed to be destined for the Notting Hill Carnival were uncovered at a secret drugs factory, today (Friday).

Police discovered the illegal haul, which has an estimated street value of £100,000, during an early-morning raid on a shut-down nightclub in Harlesden High Road.

Harlesden library has closed until September 2009 for major refurbishment.

When it re-opens next year it will contain a brand new library, new facilities for the Brent Art and Community Education Service (BACES), including classrooms and an ICT learning suite and a customer contact point.

New powers for Stonebridge police

A dispersal zone has been introduced in Stonebridge until the end of the year following 230 complaints from residents about drug dealers and intimidating gangs.

This means groups of trouble-makers causing anti-social behaviour can now be broken-up by police officers and police community support officers (PCSO).
